Malpighia emarginata, Malpighia glabra
Acerola is a shrub that grows in South America and the Caribbean tropics. The fruit, also called Barbados cherry for its resemblance to the cherry, is edible and sour, it is considered a "superfruit" as it is one of the richest fruit in vitamin C with the Camu-Camu (Myrciaria dubia).
vitamin rich (C 1000 mg to 2000 mg / 100 g, about 30 times more vitamin C than oranges), acerola is also rich in vitamin B6, vitamin B1 and vitamin A as well as flavonoids and minerals (iron, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium).
acerola extracts are used for their tonic, stimulant and anti-infectious. Their mineral wealth brings remineralizing properties. Their high concentration of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), vitamin E, flavonoids, carotenoids, anthocyanins and gives this result of antioxidant properties.
